as has been said so many times over this forums, your SAC mark isn't what matters, its your SAC ranking and exam score that determines what score you get

For a detailed explanation, check out Paulsterio's guide : Guide to how Study Scores and ATARs are calculated!

i understand all that , im trying to say that has rulled out a possibility of me being ranked 1 in my cohort, so say i am ranked 5th or 4th, and get a better exam mark than 1,2,3 i still cant get a higher SS than them?

In my opinion, there's absolutely no reason to fret over possible study scores and what could happen. I've only realised this recently, myself.

At the end of the day, you could sit around thinking about what could happen if you beat other people in Unit 4 and on the exam but a much more productive thing to do would be to actively try your absolute best and be happy with what you achieve.

VCAA is going to calculate your study scores and subsequently, your ATAR. It's upto you to increase your marks by as much as you can.
Aspiring doctor. Why? For the same four reasons as everybody else. Chicks, money, power and chicks.

1) Whether or not that rules you out of being rank 1 or not depends on how everyone else has gone in your cohort... if everyone else has done (overall) worse then you, then no it hasn't... and vice versa.
2) You can get a higher SS then them but your SAC score, to an extent, depends on how well the people ranked above you go on the exam.

At the end of the day, calculating study scores is a tedious and ridiculously complicated system. And you can definitely get a SS above higher ranked people, just make sure you smash the exam and do well on U4 SACs. If you do well enough on your exam, you have a great chance of getting 40+ on english, and you may well exceed your expectations.
