VCAA 2013 "Sample" Exam Papers (Physics and Accounting)

I've only just come across this now, but VCAA have produced sample exam papers to show the format for next years exams (like they do at the start of every new study design for a subject - they're usually not full exams though).

Note that these are produced with the only purpose being to demonstrate the style of an exam - I can't say for certain but really these sample documents they put out usually seem to be just hacked together quickly. For physics at least (I don't know for accounting), but they seem to be just collections/modifications of previous VCAA exam questions, but it does talk about the format of the exam, approximate weighting of each area of study etc.

Only the ones for Accounting and Physics are up on the VCAA website. I would expect ones to be released for the other subjects at some point in time.

They're linked here: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/studies/futuresd.aspx. Keep checking this link regularly if you're interested.

Physics:

Solutions (AIP): http://www.vicphysics.org/documents/teachers/Solutions%20to%20the%202013%20Sample%20VCE%20Physics%20Exam%20Paper.doc

For physics at least, it's nothing unexpected and what we've already known already from posts on the forums - the style of the questions being asked haven't changed and like Paul's said before, in a sense it's just a Unit 3 and 4 exam "glued together".

Section A (128 marks)
Quote
The marks for each area will be allocated across areas of study in approximately the following way:
– Motion in one and two dimensions: 30–40 marks
– Electronics and photonics: 20–30 marks
– Electric power: 30–40 marks
– Interactions of light and matter: 20–30 marks
Quote
Section B
This section will comprise 11 multiple-choice questions worth 2 marks each, with a total of 22 marks.
Answers to Section B will be recorded in pencil on a multiple-choice answer sheet.

The total for the examination will be 150 marks

Accounting:

Quote
The examination will consist of a series of short answer and extended response questions. These may include
a variety of item types, including scenarios, questions with multiple parts, short answer questions and
extended response questions.

The total marks for the examination will be 100.

Damn, a 78 page exam for physics...that's almost like a book!

Waiting on Chem. Suspect it may be 30 MC + 80-100 SA = between 110 and 130.

reading through the sample accounting exam makes me happy lol :)
VCE accounting is the best :) Uni accounting is still pretty good but it adds so many new transactions that it gets confusing at times.
Love accounting, probably the only vce subject that I can do an exam for and get above 90.
Woah so many pages for physics, have fun.  :P

It appears that VCAA has just taken a few questions from each of their past exams and put them into this. If not, they certainly seem awfully familiar :P

Adding that to list of why no-one should choose VCE physics in the future :) :P :D

Yeah they did. It mentioned that in the AIP thingy too.

Well played :P

At least you would have a decent padding behind you to write on (instead of getting to the end of the exam and feeling the table through the paper).
