Has anyone done volunteering overseas?

I've volunteered over in East Timor in 2011. You should definitely consider volunteering somewhere, it's a great experience.
I worked with various people to teach English to the Timorese, concrete and build pathways, visit orphanages and immerse ourselves in the culture. Their culture is definitely a wake up from Australian life, and I believe everyone needs to experience poverty first hand to really see what people deal with.

I'm currently an Interchange volunteer. I haven't done anything all year though because of school but after it is finished I'm planning to go back into that again. Pretty much you go on camps or day activities with kids with disabilities. I haven't done much but it's really fun and fulfilling.

It was actually an immersion program through my school, and it cost me over $1000. I'm sure you could find an organisation though :)
