Definitions of developed and developing countries?

Hi guys, i was wondering what the WHOs definition is for developing and developed countries?

driving me insane, i looked at the WHO website and the etxbooks all have different definitions sigh :(

what is the official definitions? or... if there are no official definitions. what ones should we use?

This is something I'd really like to know as well...does anyone have an acceptable definition?

DEVELOPED COUNTRY: a country that has progressed adequately with regard to economic, mortality and demographic indicators

DEVELOPING COUNTRY: a country that has not progressed adequately with regard to economic, demographic and mortality indicators

Thankyou! i did see those as definitions in notes i downloaded but wasnt to sure as the texbooks were different. Anyway thanks heaps :)

DEVELOPING COUNTRY: a country that has not progressed adequately with regard to economic, demographic and mortality indicators


Rebecca's definition is correct :) and also don't forget to know the indicators that WHO use to determine whether a country is "developed" or "developing"! :) :) e.g. GDP, literacy rates, under-5 mortality rates, etc :)
