I'm doing 1/2 English and we have a SAC coming up next week, but I'm a bit confused by my teacher's instructions because they contradict a lot of what I thought I knew about expository.

From the task sheet:
"Students are to primarily use ideas which have developed from their study of the film “Paradise Road”. Students may also refer to other examples of individuality within modern society or from history, although this is not compulsory."However, if it's not compulsory to refer to broader examples, there's really not much differentiation between this and text response.
From our handout on Expository writing:
"Use your selected text as a source of Context ideas and supporting examples, but not as the main element in your piece - this is NOT a text response"Haha, so I suppose then I'll write a quasi text response-ish kind of expository essay?

Do you think this is what they want?
