In regards to essay questions again, for questions such as 'To what extent were revolutionary ideals achieved?', what have you all been writing for 'political' ideals?
Up until now, I've just been discussing to what extent the Bolshevik government represented the workers but Checkpoints has a whole speel about soviet republics and whatnot. Is this very pertinent? Did Lenin's ideals differ very dramatically from the collective ideals of the Bolsheviks?

Well my argument is that, considering the crises and challenges they faced, they were successful in achieving a number of their ideals. When talking about the decrees I refer to dictatorship of the proletariat, 'peace, bread, land' and just a general egalitarian society that is ultimately the foundation on communism. I talk about how War Communism policies, mainly the system of class-based food requisitioning were an attempt at egalitarianism, and also discuss the achievements they made in the areas of literacy and women's rights.

I'm not sure if that helps, but that's how I go about it - discussing what ideals were successful and what weren't.
