Today i did a MAV exam which said 'enclosed' in that case is it the former?

Egh, they wouldn't go outside that limit in that case.

I mean if the curves intersected at 3 and 11, and they wanted that area, they wouldn't ask for 2 to 11 and expect you to find the area enclosed from 3 to 11. If that's what you're asking.
