What factors aid coherence and cohesion? It seems to be a reoccurring theme in exams. Does anyone have any concrete responses?

Coherence: (implicit connections)
-Inference
-Layout/Organisation
-Stages of communication - clearly organised
-Semantic Field - all relevant, flow created through lexical choices, collocations, etc

Cohesion: (explicit connections)
-Lexical - collocations, jargon, repetition, comparison, etc
-Ellipses
-Referencing - anaphoric, cataphoric, exophoric, deixis
-Conjunctions and linking adverbials
-Substitution
-Information Flow
-Rhetoric - patterning: phonological, lexical, morphological, syntactic, semantic

Hope this helps :)
