Just something I noticed on my Statement of Marks...
« on: January 10, 2013, 08:19:02 pm »
I got my Statement of Marks just to see how I went on the Biology Exam 2 to see what I got, what I noticed with a few questions that were worth 2 marks, is that because it's doubled to 4 for 2 examiners, there a 5 instances of 3 out 4 which means one gave me 2, the other gave me 1. How can this happen 5 times on a 1.5hr exam!? I'm so confused, shouldn't the marking be relatively the same between examiners?

Bio is a little more subjective. One of my mates had 9 halfies in his bio exam.

That's pretty inconsistent! Did he still get what he wanted?

He did well, yes.

These things happen. It's like one of those answers that could go either way.
One examiner could be like - "errr......yes" whereas the other could be like "errr.......no"

Like, in both of my bio exams, exam 1 i had only one halfie, exam 2 didn't have any halfies

I think that VCAA needs to get their game together. I would hardly tolerate handing in an identical exam to someone else and scoring 5 marks higher/lower than them.

If it were 5 marks, a third assessor (in the Chief's panel) would mark it. Chances are that the two assessors took off the mark for different questions.

On my German exam I had 3 different occurrences where one gave it and not the other too. It is a bit annoying. Same with English for the different pieces. They were all odd number out of 20.

Received full marks for oral examination. Providing tuition for German in 2014. Pm me if interested.

Argh that's a wrench. That would be because one examiner might be a tightass and take off method marks, or an examiner may not be too happy about some notation and decides to take a mark off (whereas another examiner might be like "ah who cares").

The curiosity is really killing me now. I'll go ask for SoM's. When's the latest you can do it?
