Beyond tutoring? [split]

Brendan, here is something for your imaginative mind to ponder.

We have now reached the stage where half the population of Australia is tutoring the other half.
Obviously, the time will come soon  when tutoring will not give you an edge, it will just keep you in the game, right?

What is the next big thing beyond tutoring, Brendan?

I don't think that's true, bro.

It is not true.
Yet.
But it's getting that way.
There has been an explosion in tutoring in recent years, and it is spreading into the mainstream demographic groups.
Very soon everyone will attend school AND tutors as a matter of course.

Edit: I do agree that AN (or similar) has a big future role

This sounds like curry land. Back in curry land it's common practice to have 5-6 tutors, maybe even 2 tutors for the same subject.

Not to mention tutoring for students in like 1st Standard... (is that like a prep or Grade 1 equiv?) Stupid.

Anecdotally I can agree... I have friends from multiple different schools, private and public, and just about everyone uses tutors extensively.

People are under the false assumption that if you get tutoring, you're guaranteed a good score. I think that's part of the reason.

I also think it might be that people think if you don't get tutoring you're at a disadvantage and will do worse, so kids are pushed to get tutors just to make sure that they don't fall behind.

The very very very vast majority of people in my VCE cohort (while it was 2012 and 2013 grads, I dunno about 2014) never used a tutor.

At my school, it's very rare as well I believe.

The next step is competition to get the best tutors first.  Easy.
