Unit suggestions

So, I've decided to replace CHM1011 and 1022 in the science component of my degree. I've switched CHM1011 with STA1010 (Statistical Methods for Science), but seeing as this unit has no specifically attached units (such as CHM1011-1022), I don't know what to list for Sem 2.

My other two units are BIO1011 and 1022.

Any suggestions?

Another math unit? An elective of some kind (i had a similar disjoint in units, i did foundation physics which had no 2nd semester counterpart that wasnt advanced physics)? I did a philosophy and astronomy subject for example.

I love maths, but I'm not particularly good at it... what sort of electives are available to me? Apparently I'm disallowed from a few of them because I'm doing biomed as well.

Oh right, i didn't notice the double degree. I'm pretty sure being in one prevents you from doing anything outside of biomed or science (dont quote me on that though). So, i guess it'll have to be a science unit of some kind

Yeah, that's right unfortunately... are there any units in the science faculty (which can be taken by a first-year) that are particularly good?

i recommend do MTH1020. fairly easy subject that ventures into a bit of the specialist math world (monash assessments are way too easy though) and you can build on some fundamentals. also starts to get kind of interesting. don't use the 'i suck at math and enjoy it'. I think this just means you do inadequate study or study incorrectly, not just an innate disability. the unit is easy anyway and lecturers+notes were really helpful.

for another unit, you could try psy1011 - psychology. you might find it interesting

Cheers for that, MTH1020 looks pretty good - I just don't want to embarrass myself :P . It's on the list!

Kingpomba, do you recommend Foundation Physics?

Nah not really. Its not very interesting. It's more for people who need it as a prereq for something but you still can take it if you want.

Not sure if you were the guy asking about astro (and thus already chose it) but i reckon ASP1022 is pretty good.

At the moment, I'm tossing up between ASP1022 and MTH1020, but I could very well end up doing something entirely different - I'll sort this out with someone at the Faculty of Science.

Thanks guys!
