I don't know if your teachers have already told you about this but as of this year, there will be a 9th NHPA - Dementia (as if there wasn't already enough, I know!!!). This is taken from the VCAA site:-
Clarification of the National Health Priority Areas
It should be noted that on 10 August 2012 the Health Ministers agreed to designate Dementia as the ninth National Health Priority Area (NHPA).
The following clarification has been provided in response to this change and in relation to VCE Health and Human Development Unit 3 Area of Study 1 key knowledge:
• the NHPAs including:
– key features, determinants that act as risk factors and reasons for selection of each NHPA
– direct, indirect and intangible costs to individuals and communities of NHPAs
– one health promotion program relevant to each NHPA;
The VCAA requires dementia as a NHPA to be incorporated into the teaching of Unit 3 VCE Health and Human Development from 2013. It is not expected that students will have been taught this new NHPA in 2012.
Long story short; last year's 2012 kiddies didn't need to know anything about dementia as an NHPA but you guys do!

I'm guessing they probably won't have anything in your HHD textbooks about dementia as an NHPA for now...but if you refer to this site, you should be able to absorb some basic information about it
http://www.aihw.gov.au/dementia/For more detailed 'textbook' info about dementia, you can download the AIHW 'Dementia in Australia' online pdf handbook from this link and just extract out the info relating to dementia as an NHPA
