In struggle town! (help needed)

I know i already made a thread on "how to study" but at the moment im in struggle town. Its only the second week but i already feel like im behind everyone else.

For example today we were going through some questions and everyone was on the ball and knew what they were doing and i was just sitting there having no idea.

How do you know what readings to do? are you meant to summarize the lectures or should you summarize from the text book? Im starting to get really anxious because i know assessments will be coming soon and ill have no idea what to do.

Can someone please give me a their ROUTINE on how to study at university? I just need to some structure for a week to get into the jist of things

e.g.

Come home summarize the lecture
break
do some questions
etc

help me

I don't really know how things work at UoM but:

Have you asked the lecturer/whoever is running your tute (or labs/whatever)? Your lecturer should probably have consultation/office hours, find them out and go talk to them then (that's why they have those hours). I doubt you're the first student that they've had that's been a bit confused.

You haven't mentioned what subjects you're doing. The approach you might take in maths might differ from chemistry which will differ from history etc.

This is Monash, but same routine I guess for non-math/language lectures:
1. Pre-lecture: pre-reading and look over lecture slides
2. Lecture: make some rudimentary notes as you go, I tend to do everything on my laptop to save paper and save me buying pens (lol)
3. Post-lecture: formalise notes, do extra readings etc
4. Week later: revise notes to cement knowledge

Also, if you can do group study, I'd do it (2-4 people imo). I love group study :D

Experiment while you can, I guess?

I'm taking completely different study approaches for most of my subjects.

For Biomolecules, I haven't been doing pre-reading as I've heard that it's pretty useless if you've already done 3/4 Biology, but I've been writing summary notes post-lecture and supplementing them with extra details that I find from the textbook and reliable sites on Google. The reason why I like doing this is because Biology is a subject which requires lots of attention to detail and some rote-learning. Not sure how long I can keep writing notes though - they suck out quite a bit of time. THe tutorial worksheets and questions should help as well, which I'll do regularly.

For Chemistry, I'm not going to bother writing summary notes, because it's more emphasised on conceptual understanding. I'm just going to focus on understanding (Khan Academy is also helping, as well as re-watching lectures) and answering questions. I just did the ChemCAL module for Stereoisomers, which gave my brain a real good workout, and it was pretty good because it just covered everything the lectures have covered so far. There should be heaps of tutorial questions as well, so it should be good enough.

Although, I really don't know how to self-study for Mathematics for Biomed. There are no resources apart from the lecture notes (which are already confusing enough to interpret) and the worksheets on the LMS. Think I might rely on asking the tutes and lecturer a lot outside of class...

Don't you have a list of the readings you have to do?

Edit: I accidentally a word.

With maths subjects, I found the best thing to do was to practise the problems given to you. You should have been giving a problem booklet like Calc 2/Lin Alg/Eng Maths (maybe not since this is the first semester they are running it), but make sure you do EVERY problem they give you. It's the best way to study for a test or an exam in first year Maths anyway.

Are you doing biomed? If you haven't made a studygroup, make or join one.
