Who here uses the Casio Classpad?

I just want to know if I'm not alone. :P

I haven't used any other calculators, but I'm definitely not a fan of this one. Perhaps the only thing that it has going for it is its ease of use.

We used Casio Classpad for further last year. It was really easy to use, especially considering its touchscreen..
But this year, our teacher encouraged us to use TI-nspire. Best decision ever. It's so much better than Classpad. :)

I think Classpad is the best calculator for further, but for methods and spec, I find TI-nspire is more helpful.

I still have both calculators and have tried using both calcs for all my maths subjects, so I'm not biased at all. :D (:P)

From what I've heard, I have to agree. Although, the Classpad is slow in all instances. :P

I like the casio classpad because of its simplicity. Easy to use and don't have many problems with it.

I'm using a Classpad. I know that it isn't as good as a TI, but I've been using it for the past 3 years, so I don't think there is any point in switching as I can do anything I need to do on the Classpad. The TI looks more appealing, with its backdrop, rechargeable power, cost, and speed, but you also can play Pokemon and Doom on it, and I would actually like to pass my VCE.

The thing I don't like about the classpad is that I'd just rather have more buttons rather than having a soft keyboard. The touchscreen is useful with graphs but less so with the punching in of equations which I prefer buttons to quickly access stuff like pi, cos etc. I'm actually using the shift key setup on the calc though, so to an extent I can access what I want quickly so long as I remember which key was what (MY GOD THAT TOOK A WHILE) and I can live without one of the keys.

I agree, I'd enjoy having a larger selection of buttons, gets annoying when you put in half of the equation through the buttons and then having to use the touch screen for the rest.

I haven't used any other calculators, but I'm definitely not a fan of this one. Perhaps the only thing that it has going for it is its ease of use.

It is my understanding that the Casio Classpad is the most commonly used calculator, followed by the Texas Instruments (I think, not sure, but I think private schools use them a bit more). The TI has more processing power than the Classpad (its a bit faster at solving really long equations) but it is a bit harder to learn and use - because it is apparently more syntax driven, it takes longer to input basic expressions than it does on the ClassPad.

That being said I love the ClassPad because it is intuitive and easy to use. I don't like how the buttons are so small on the TI Calculators. And even if it is a little bit slower, VCAA writes the exams so that they are accessible to all students with all approved calculators, and I finished my Methods Exam last year using the ClassPad. Good job on Further btw!
