Hi,

So with 3 months left before the UMAT, I've noticed that my scores on medentry are becoming more consistent.

For section 1 drills, I'm getting about 12/20 in the allocated time

For section 2 drills, I'm getting about 11/15 in the allocated time

What I want to ask is:
* not too happy with my section 1 scores - is it possible for me to improve? What would a reasonable goal for improvement be?
* based on these scores, can someone who has used medentry previously tell me how I'm travelling, because right now I have no idea whether these scores are good or not. Whilst they are not the ideal 100%, I know that perfect scores isn't really how it works in the UMAT.
* when should I start doing the practice exams? I've been told about 2 months before the exam is a good time to start...

Thanks for any help at all!  :)

As far as im concerned that's pretty good. I'm getting around the same scores, sometimes a little higher. But this is probably because im going over the time limit by around 10-15 minutes. So for me, time is an obvious issue.
Anyway, this is probably useless as i havent actually succeeded in the UMAT lol.

Actually I feel reassured that someone else is getting around the same scores. Yeah I've also been thinking its "pretty good", but it's not excellent you know - that's what's getting to me lol  :P

And the time factor is also what's adding the pressure - seriously 1min per problem-solving question makes me feel like I'm clutching at straws!

Yeah im definitely the same, after many drills i feel pretty annoyed. So when i say pretty good, i mean that others are doing similar lol.
It definitely is hard. Just have to keep grinding

Guys, don't feel discouraged - I did one or two drills and totally failed so yeah don't worry :) the exam's usually easier :)

Possible to improve: heaps, greatly, drastically, totally, YES. I only started practicing around 3 weeks before the UMAT and improved greatly in that time; you can too. Seriously, all Section 1 requires is an understanding (A) the question types, (B) a range of options (like a toolkit) to use and (C) an ability to match the question type with the tool.

Reasonable goal: the sky's the limit. I'm talking from experience :) Just use the right techniques and you'll be surprised at yourself :)

How you're travelling: I honestly wouldn't care at this point. I know it's really hard to close your eyes and just keep at it, but it will help. Some people do really well in practice but do bad on the actual day. Others are the opposite. You're never going to judge yourself properly - so don't worry. I know it's easier said than done, and I learnt it the hard way :( but try not to worry.

When should you start exams: Personally, I'd start them ASAP. I think the main benefit of MedEntry is their practice exams, because it helps you helps get a good idea of the timing required. And unless you do super hardcore practice, you'll have a hard time finishing them. Remember that in June-July you'll probably have a lot of SACs so personally I'd start them now, to avoid stress for later :)
