Academic survey on students' experience of tutoring

Hi there,

I'm an academic researcher, specialising in China, working at the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore.

I'm running an academic project which analyses and compares non-school educational services (tutoring, cram schools, external lectures, and so on) across various countries (Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan).

As part of this project, I'm organising a survey of post-secondary students in Australia who have been involved in non-school tutoring (one-on-one tutoring, tutoring schools, lectures, etc.). I'm particularly focusing on the Chinese-background community, but anyone can fill out the survey, as all the information I can get is useful.

So, if you are a post-Year 12 student who has used any sort of non-school education service, please consider filling out the survey at the link below. As an incentive, I'm offering a small prize (iTunes voucher) to a randomly selected person who completes the survey.

If you run a tutoring service yourself, or if you have any questions about the survey, please feel free to send me an email at [email protected]. I'm hoping to run some interviews (whether in person or online) with tutors and students who have been tutored over the next couple of months, so let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for your time!

Your survey is broken when selecting primary schooling/secondary schooling. I think you would have wanted the horizontal axis (the prep, year 1, year 2 ... year 6) to be switched with the school types (public non-selective etc.). As it currently is, you can't select the same type of school for more than one school year (e.g. I went to public non-selective schools from prep to year 12, I can't fill in that data correctly the way your form is designed).

Fixed now. Thanks for the note - the rows and columns got mixed up when I transferred the survey to Google forms.

I invented the new emotion 'amazed-by-my-tutor' and put it into "Thinking back to your emotions at the time, how did you feel while attending tutoring services?"
