I have a SAC on tropisms next week and I'd like to hear your suggestions as to what I should focus my study on.
I know my plant hormones and the what the tropisms are. Has anyone done their tropism sac yet?

Hey :)

I haven't done the tropism SAC yet but I think what you'll be required to know is that tropism is basically the response of a plant to a particular external stimulus (e.g. light, gravity). Do you know what type of tropism you'll be investigating? It's usually geotropism or phototropism, so I'd guess one of them? It's just that it can be explained in a more specific way if you tell me which type.

:)

According to my teacher, it'll be both. ^^

Ooh, okay so what you'd need to know is what positive and negative tropism is. You need to be able to discuss what is happenning in phototropism that causes a particular plant to bend towards a particular light source (i.e. The auxins that cause cell elongation). For geotropism, be aware of what happens that causes the roots to bend downwards in response to gravity stimulus & how this then causes the shoots to grow upwards.

Its a pretty straightforward topic in my opinion; what do you think you may also need to learn? Just background because then I can sort of get an idea of what else you are required to study.
