Photodiode Question ?

I am a bit confused with photodiodes, can someone confirm my statements or correct it.
Photodiode connected in forward bias (with no other power source) acts as emf and is in photovoltaig mode (solar cell)

when connected in reverse bias with a power supply it is in photoconductive mode, it functions to regulate current flowing through a circuit by producing a reverse current which depends on the light intensity. Is this correct ?

Yes that is in essence correct. Usually we deal with photodiodes in reverse bias, forward bias questions are a bit rare. Also, next time you have a question like this, the textbook is a good reference. Just a tip ;)

And if you don't mind my asking, has your teacher started with electronics not motion first?

No we finished motion but to be honest our teacher is not that great as she skipps through very quickly with little or no in depth explanations. all she says is refer to the book.
