Is it a good idea to do psych 3 and 4 without 1 and 2?is the content in 1 and 2 similar to the content in 3 and 4?

yeah, psych is probably one of the best subjects in terms of doing it without the 1/2. the only things that really carry over are research methods, writing ERAs and some of the stuff from learning, like operant and classical conditioning. that stuff is covered again in units 3/4 so you should be fine with it. i'd recommend going over research methods over the holidays though, just to get a pretty firm grasp on it, cos it'll be included in pretty much every sac or exam you do.  :)

don't worry, you don't need 1&2. I didn't do it and most of my friends who did really well didn't either :)

just make sure you've got a good grasp of research methods. they'll probably cover everything you need to know about research methods all over again in 3&4

Not necessarily a good idea, but it's certainly not a bad one. Because you are doing it without having 1 and 2, you're more likely to be interested by the content and put in the extra work to catch up, so in a lot of cases it can actually work in your favour. Only difficulty will be research methods, which you may like to read up on, and also appreciating the language of Psychology, which can be a bit of a trick. Having said that, I got all the way through year twelve psych without having a bloody clue about either of those things, so you should be fine!

I'm currently doing 3&4 and didn't do 1&2. Research methods is probably the only part of the course which you will need to read up on and become familiar with. The ERA (empirical research assessment) is a major SAC which covers aspects of research methods.  Other than that, everything is pretty straightforward. You don't need it you'll be fine :)
