So I've wanted to get into Arts/Law for quite some time now, and I know it says on the faculty website that I need have a D average or better (even though it says 75% which isn't the start of a D), but what are the chances that they'll accept someone outside of it?
I tried last semester and my WAM was 70 something and it was mid year and I didn't get a place, so hopefully this time around I can get in, I'm just really worried about my grades because I haven't scored that well on some of the assessments already :/

What are the chances that I would be granted a transfer into Arts/Law (or just Law) with a WAM of about 70?

I know it's hard to predict, but I need some idea of my chances haha.

I think currently you need high 70's if not early 80's to transfer into law. It does change yearly but the cut-off has been around 78-80 for internal transfers for the last few years I believe. All you can do is try and boost your WAM up before you apply and hope it's enough...

Is this anecdotal, or is there some way to find that out? I'm also a bit nervous that my grades might drop too much for Arts/Law

My friend got into Arts/Law with a WAM of 76. I think he would have been lucky though.

That makes me feel a bit better. What was his ATAR?

Finding that out can only be negative to your chances right now. Just aim for 100% on everything from here on and what will be, will be.

Well it's pretty much anecdotal. I transferred with a 79 a few years ago and I know a couple of people around the 74-76 mark that missed out then. I don't recall the faculty ever announcing/publishing the cut-off score. From what I've read on other forums and heard from others, the score hadn't changed much and was still around the high 70's last year and the year before. You could try contacting the faculty to get an exact score, but I doubt they could even give you one until they've actually processed all the transfers anyway.

As for the ATAR, I don't believe they take much notice of it (I got in with an ENTER/ATAR in the high 80's). I also recall filling out a form asking why I wanted to transfer; I think I just named a couple of areas of law that I thought were interesting and wanted to pursue. Not sure how much consideration they give the statements.
