Section B Question

So for section B I am writing an imaginative piece but my story is not directly related to the text we read in class however I will be mentioning the text at some point in my piece. My teacher suggested I do that so I'm not too worried but what do you guys think? Is it okay that my imaginative piece is not completely centered around the main text?

Is it in relation to the themes and ideas presented in the text? If so then yeah that should be fine. Howver it will always need to link to the text in some way (not superficially like just mentioning the text)
