I prefer reading and completing MC section first. This is because during reading time, its easier to complete recognition tasks that can later be circled in writing time.

I like continuing the mc I started reading (after 15 mins you should be up to Q30 or so). Its best to go in order unless you struggle with certain questions..do those ones last.

Also whatever you do, never leave a question blank! You are more likely to receive a mark for an answer you probably didnt know by writing something down rather than leaving it blank

I actually prefer to read through short answer section and extended response section first. I like to mentally plan out what I'm going to write for each question and just get a rough idea of what I'm going to include. Then I would attempt to read the multiple choice section. Let's say I'm not able to answer a question in SA section, by reading through the MC now I might be able to extract some cues through recognition to help me answer it ;)

This method just works best for me during reading time. You could try different approaches and see which suits you best.

Good luck and all the best for the exam on Friday! :)

Haha while doing practice exams I like this method as well. It just makes the ending seem so much less stressful, where you're simply just circling instead of mad writing ;;

However, I do like the idea of doing MC first. There was a post around this forum stating that some guy did the entire MC in his head during reading time, and had basically the whole exam to perfect his short answers.

That's so true! I, for one, don't want to be writing furiously by the end hahaha. Also if I leave either the extended response or short answer section last, I would probably feel exhausted by then and not perform at my utter best.

My preferences back when I was completing commercial practice exams were:
1) Insight
2) STAV
3) Trials for Teachers
4) Neap
5) Lisachem
6) Engage
7) TSSM

Reading time should be used to get through as many MCQs as possible in my opinion. In both of my own exams I completed all 45 of my MCQs in the 15 minutes reading time. After taking 10 minutes during writing time to fill out the MCQ answer sheet, I had 1 hour and 20 minutes to perfect my short answers. In Psychology, the top students do well in short answer, you can't really differentiate yourself much when the average for MCQs is around 80% from year to year. So try to get through as many MCQs as you can during reading time. I personally wouldn't recommend looking at Sections B or C because they could be a tad overwhelming..

Hope that helps your strategy. Feel free to rejig it to fit your own style, but I think trying to get through MCQs in reading time is best.

Haha here it is! I asked a similar question to Slumdawg a while back :P
