I don't think so. Unless you explained what 'shocking the cell' would do?

I said that the shocking would make it competent

I don't think so. I think you needed to say something about destroying DNA or enucleating the cell, etc.
It's just one mark though, so you'll be all right  :)

I don't think VCE Biology really covers what UV light would do to the nucleus of a cell. Given the diagram, I think the answer "UV light was used in order to enucleate the cell" will be accepted.

it's part of the course. But yeah, I agree. They should accept that it was just used to enucleate the cell  :)

Really? I just looked through Nature of Biology and it wasn't there. I might be in Biozone or some other information-rich resource, but these often tend to go beyond the realms of VCE Biology. If they didn't accept it, like 3% of the state would get it right.
