What to do?

Just making a thread to gather some opinions in regards to Arts degrees for both Monash University and The University of Melbourne. My ultimate aim is to get an Law degree from a Group of Eight University. I've chosen a (Go8) University due to multiple people warning me of the increased difficulty in finding the higher end jobs with a degree from other universities such as La Trobe or Australian Catholic University, I also don't want to risk Deakin either.

That's why I've narrowed my options to two:

a) Go to Monash and the after a year and try and convert from Arts to Arts/Law
b) Go to Melbourne and do the Juris Doctor pathway.

The majors that have my interest are International Politics and Criminology;
- Does anyone know which university is more respected and ranked higher in these respective fields?
- Does anyone have any first hand experiences with these subjects?

The other thing that has me worries is the distinction average or better (75%+) required both courses.
- How difficult is to achieve an average of 75%+ or better?

Finally, if you were in my position, which option would you choose and why?

If anyone could help me out you would put my mind at ease, thanks.
