Nature of Biology or Nelson Biology?

Hi everyone! I'm in year 10 this year and I'm not sure whether to study the nature of biology unit 1/2 book or the Nelson biology. I personally looked at both, and found that the Nelson biology book was more easy to understand, but I'm not sure whether it covers all the topics and information.  I want to do really well, but I don't know which one to get.
Thanksπ
Replies would be much appreciated!! :D

If your in Year 10, and really desperate to start Biology, read Nelson. Although, I seriously wouldn't be bothered. There are a million more better things to do with your time (even if it be to study). Leave VCE until VCE. There are competitions you can enter which will really test your foundation. It's that very foundation that matters before you start any VCE subject.

I think the general consensus is that NoB is the better book because a) more info, b) more appealing/engaging. But since you're in year 10, any would suffice. However, if you understand more from Nelson, then utilise it because NoB can be a little 'full-on'. And you could always consult the library for other Bio books. My advice for unit 1/2 Biology is to build on your critical thinking skills and practice on formulating well-expressed answers. Enjoy it. Good-luck!

Thank you very much for your answers, but what i meant was i am taking biology electives this year, intending to do biology 3/4 in year 11 which is next year. Many people do say that NoB is a very good book, so it must be quite comprehensive and easy-to-read.

Would my biology study be inconsistent if i did Nelson in year 10 and NoB in year 11?

Nope :) it's good to have a broader read of all the texts available and use this skills to help you next year :)

Sometimes Nelson can be easier to understand but I find there is more to learn in NoB. Definitely get it if you are doing 3/4 since most schools are using it as well. :)

why not both? When I did bio I used 2 textbooks (I can't remember what they were called though), one of them was slightly more detailed than the other and had more topics as well, however the other textbook was much was much easier to understand, I think this scenario is quite similar to yours. I generally studied from the more detailed textbook and then used the easier to understand one to help consolidate what I learned. Though if you can't afford to get both (which was in my case) you can always borrow the easier to understand Nelson biology book from a library, although there are always other ways to get a textbook.....(note: not suggesting anything illegal, its all your imagination *whistles nervously*)

agreed, your study won't be inconsistent, if anything it will help you understand the topic much better.
