Xiu travels from town A to town B at u km/h and then return at v km/h. Town A is d km form town B.
a) Find the average speed at which Xiu travels for the complete journey, in terms of u and v.

b) If it takes T hours to travel from A to B, find the time taken:
    1. for the return trip from B to A, in terms of T, u and v.
    2. the entire trip in terms of T, u and v

So you know that the complete journey is from Town A -> Town B -> Town A where the distance between each town is 'd' km.

So we know that we are travelling 2d km altogether.
When finding the average speed, we know that the formula is where distance is defined as 'd' km and time. To find time, we use where we will place u km/h and v km/h to give us the time for which we can sub into the final formula to get the total average speed (since they are different speeds which we need to factor in altogether).

I believe :)

A man on a bicycle rides one-thrid of the way from town A to town B at a speed a km/h and the remainder of the way at 2b km/h.
a) If the distance between the two towns is 9km find the time taken to ride from A to B.

Tom leaves town A and travels at a constant speed of u km/h towards town B. At the same time Julie leaves town B and travels towards town A at a constant speed of km/h. Town B is d km from town A.
BY considering that the sum of their distances traveled must b d km when they meet, find their distance from town A when they meet.

This is probably wrong.

Based around
We will look at the first third of the journey.
Time taken for this portion is

Time taken for the second portion is

Add these two times together to get the total time.

It will take him time units to get from A to B.
