TI-nspire cx CAS calculator issue

Does anyone know why my calculator is giving me these values???

I want to define the function f1(x)= 2^5x, where the power itself is 5x, and not 2^5 multiplied by the power of x.
The calculator keeps assuming that I'm saying f1(x)= (2^5)^x, and thus i can't get it to say that f1(x+y) = 2^5x+y, even though this is the correct answer. It gives me e^ln(32) x (y+x) which is not what im looking for at all.

That's why I'm confused; the answer says it is (2)^5x+y (as in the (x) in (2)^5x has been substituted with (x+y)), and other calculators I've looked at have given that right answer (e.g. casio classpad).

I just don't know why my calculator insists to give it in that form, since I won't be able to use that in SACs lol (I know it is an easy question that can be done in your head, but i don't trust my calc for harder questions)

Have you tried entering 2^(5x), typing in the brackets yourself?

You could also try pushing the left button after typing 2^5 (presumably after which it takes it back to the level where you're multiplying the 2^5), you should be able to tell by where the cursor is whether or not you're typing it in the "to the power of" section or not.

I suppose the TI nspire is trying to 'simplify' the equation as much as it can for you.

Just in this case the simplification actually complicates things.

It's totally ignoring the brackets, even variations of (2)^5x or 2^(5x). It says that I wrote (2^5)^x = 32^x  when i hit enter I've even tried to enter the actual answer of 2^(5x+y) (where 5x+y is its own term) and it gives (2^y) x (32^x).

Stevensmay, that's probably the case. Annoying though.
