I just covered this same topic, and I'm sure your teachers would have told you, but it links in extremely well with the Iraq War as well as several real life political scandals, such as Bill Clinton's affair, and Nixon's Watergate scandal, recently in the media they've been talking about the compromise on returning an imprisoned American soldier through the compromise of releasing 5 Taliban members. Although this is not factual (or proven factually) it is an interesting point to consider when talking about Wag The Dog.
Similarly, you can also branch out into propaganda, slogans and the effects of the media on our realities, and explore this in depth, thus considering how driven we are by constructed realities. It is important to realise that everything, even the news and documentaries take a certain stance in order to express the views in line with the journalist and the overall enterprise, therefore we really are obtaining a secondary account of information, and not necessarily the truth/
I just checked the post date, so this is probably too late, but good luck with everything anyway!
