Advanced Standing

Hi all,

I'm transferring from Monash to Melbourne and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experience.
Just wondering if ACC1000 Principles of Accounting and finance, ECC1000 Principles of Microeconomics, ETC1000 Business Statistics and Econometrics and MGC1010 Introduction to Management will be recognised by Melbourne in any way (direct substitute of another unit or as breadth).

Thank you so much!

I'm in the exact same situation as you!

Only difference is that I did MKC1200 - Principles of Marketing instead of Bus.Stat
I'm pretty confident that our units will be credited under the Go8 agreement.

I'm having issues with my enrolment :(
They won't let me do macroeconomics since they have not received any information about my previous studies.

thank you chysim!

I hope so too yourtoob. i'm hoping to be able to sort this out on Monday when i got to the student centre but there's so much documentation required.

i'm wondering if i should just enrol in the subjects now and then swap out of them when i get approved for credit later

We have so much to do with so little time!

What documents do we need to bring in to apply for the Advanced Standing?

I've checked out one of the forms but there's like 5 documents that are required. I hope they are not talking about this form! It's so scary.

I want to spend the last few days of my holidays in peace...

I'll be double majoring in economics/finance.
Our micro lecturer was so good that I just want to have a career in it haha

How about you?

I'm transferring from Science at RMIT to Commerce at Melbourne. The subjects I did were:
MATH1142 - Calculus 1
MATH2109 - Mathematical Computing
MATH2126 - Elements of Professional Practice
MATH2200 - Statistics 1

Because RMIT isn't a Go8 university, I'm worried that my subjects won't be credited.
Does anyone know if Melbourne Uni recognises any of these subjects?
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

You'll be absolutely fine OP, all your classes seem to be credited

http://futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/admissions/credit_calculator

They only list Bachelor of Biomedicine for credit ahahah, but I think their calculator just needs to be updated. It isn't used often. As aforementioned, universities are generous with first year credits because introductory subjects between all universities are virtually the same.

I don't know about MATH subjects, but I gained advanced standing for two level-2 and one level-3 accounting subjects I did from RMIT, and 5 subjets (mix of level 1 and 2 subjects) I did overseas. Doesn't really matter if Go8 or not as long as the subject content, syllabus, assessment styles, etc. fits with Melb uni standards. It's all up to the department anyway.

Cheers :)

Hey guys!
Congrats on your transfer! I'm looking to transfer in next semester from monash and just wanted to follow up on your credits so I can choose subjects this sem that could help with melbourne next year! Did all of your credits go through? If so , did micro allow you to do macro, did bus stats credit for QM (or do you still have to do it) and was accounting the equivalent of ARA so it allowed you to do financial accounting and the other accounting this sem??
Any help would be much appreciated! :)

I did not come from Monash, but my friends who transferred from Monash had gained advance standing for ARA and QM1 when they transferred mid-year. Hope that helps.

Hi,

Micro was credited so I could do Macro this sem, Acc1000 didn't get credited for ARA and I only got a general lvl 1 credit, bus stats was credited as QM1.
