VCE subject selection

Hey guys,
sorry for being so mainstream and in one aspect cliche, but I need help deciding whether or not I should do Biology next year, and if I should complete HDD as I am doing units 1 & 2 this year. I'm in year 10 and I'm currently leaning towards a career in medicine, the subjects I have decided on are:
-Physics
-Chemistry
-English
-Methods
-Specialist (only units 3/4 available at my school)

I've heard that Biology requires a lot of time and attention, I've never really loved memorizing things but I guess I'm pretty decent at doing so. I've also heard that the bridging course available teaches you the biology that is necessary for the first semester of Medicine, therefore learning all of biology in VCE would prove to be useless. I could be wrong though.
Health is a, I guess, alright subject, but many medicine students are doing well without it. I don't want to add extra pressure on myself.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance. :D

I'm not sure about bridging courses, but I assume they would go through material fairly quickly so you might struggle to fully understand it coming into uni. Biology 3/4 covers a lot on genes/DNA and immunity so it would be a lot easier if you did do bio.

I personally don't do HHD; however, my friend consistently reiterates that there is an overwhelming amount of detail that you cannot miss whilst studying health in order to do well. I'd personally do Biology. Biology is time-consuming, and encompasses a wide range of topics which you must properly understand in order to achieve well. However, if you give Biology its due time, the hard work will pay its dividends. It worked with me, and it's worked with many.

Furthermore, Biology would be of an enormous assistance at university! Doing Biology in terms of knowledge you'll review at university, will be much more beneficial than doing HHD. Hence, Biology is probably a better option. I'd do Biology 3/4 in year 11.

Good luck, and remember, this is a merely a viewpoint, and the ultimate decision comes down to what grants you solace! Your decision!

Okay so I'm going to drop health and do biology, although I don't think my school allows students to do biology units 3/4 straight away, so I'll have to start with 1/2 . Thanks for the advice, appreciate it so much! (:

Hmm... Not really. I don't think I'm biassed because I'm giving my opinion on the benefits of Biology, and mentioned it involves a lot of work. 😊 I also mentioned that the decision is ultimately theirs!

I've seen the HHD course and can confirm it's probably more useful for a Medical degree than Biology. Furthermore, for Monash, there is a bridging course for Biology anyway which is pretty comprehensive you you actually go through it.

Just sayin'.

But do you think I'd do fine without HDD if I get accepted into med? If I do continue with HDD will I have, in your opinion, a slight advantage? So you think I should do HDD rather than bio, no bio?
Omg so sorry for so many questions but I'm struggling right now. Thank you

Do whatever subject you like more :) Look at each study design and read them carefully and then pick whichever appeals to you the most! :)

Depending on the specific Medicine course, you may have to take a minute to see whether Biology is a necessary prerequisite or not. Check whether you need anything else. Something like Monash University require the UMAT, Chem and English, but others require a selection (so not necessarily all) of Bio, HHD, Methods, Chem and English.
VCE: Psych | Eng Lang | LOTE | Methods | Further | Chem
Uni: Bachelor of Science (Hons) - genetics
