I tend to focus on reading the passages of my stronger text (which is The Fact of a Doorframe). I spend about 10 minutes reading this, and piecing things together in my head. I say them under my breath to myself to make them stick in my head so I can quickly annotate in the first 5 minutes of writing time. I will also have a quick read of the other passages for my other text.

I think because I also do English, I'm less nervous than if I just did Lit because I am fairly confident that English went okay. I know I have prepared pretty much as well as I can, so there's not really all that much else that I can control.

thanks for the advice, its really similar to me! i sort of pick out my broad umbrella contention and then narrow down sub ideas. then i word my opening so i can immediately write it down, then i sort of let the rest of the essay flow organically while steering it around my sub ideas. :)

Honestly, the best thing to do during reading time for lit, as least for me, is to ensure you read all of your passages! It sounds like common sense, but often I think lit students (including myself..) spend too much time examining the passages of the text they're most confident with, whilst neglecting the passages of their other text. Never a good idea! Also, I recommend annotating all your passages before you begin writing.. that way, your annotations act as a cue when you finish your first text and move to your second. As for anxiety, I have a bad feeling that Adrienne Rich will be hard-ish this year.. as it was quite easy last year :( Also, The Tall Man.. well, I'm feeling OK about it but could have more quotes prepared.. oh well. Don't get too stressed by lit, it'll be over in four days and you'll never have to think about micro analysis ever again  ;D

good you're feelin ok about it :) :) i agree that us lit kids have the tendency to over compensate haha!!  i didn't think of the idea of having annotations as a cue, i think it's a good idea. good luck with your prep! :)

TBH I think I'll be lucky to get my goal of 36-37, but now I'm just in acceptance phase! I'll probably start feeling nervous tomorrow  8) I find it helpful, rather than making full-fledged annotations and wasting 10 mins I usually just write key quotes/ links to other passages in the text but that's just me :) Good luck to you too! Can't wait until 5:15 on Friday  ;D
