Bridging course?

Hi, I'm interested in doing BCom/BEng @ Monash, but I didn't do either chem or physics (though I am doing methods).
What bridging course (is that what its called?) would I need to do in order to compensate for not having chem or physics? (

Originally I was dead set on commerce only, but I have changed my mind (Stupid, I know)
My second pref course is Commerce (Accounting and Finance), and I'm pretty sure I'll get the required atar. So yep, sorry if this is offtopic, but any of you monash students know what bridging course I need to do? Thanks!

Hi, as you can see below, entry for the commerce + Engineering course requires both methods AND one of chem or physics. That means it might be a bit hard to get accepted easily. I am not sure about the time that you are willing to devote for fulfilling the entry requirements. I know that in the first year, foundation units for chem and physics can be chosen, which are for people who haven't done them in VCE. These units are chosen along with the other units of the course.

On a side note, I was also planning to put Comm + Eng at the top of my pref, but now I have changed it to single Eng. It is just because I am interested to have more of Engineering.

Anyways, Good luck :)

I know that in the first year, foundation units for chem and physics can be chosen, which are for people who haven't done them in VCE.

I don't think foundation chem runs anymore (I could be wrong, though)

What I'd suggest is go into a commerce degree, then either pick up the first year chem units (CHM1011 and CHM1022) or physics with foundation physics (PHS1080 and PHS1022).  Which I'd suggest you choose depends on the type of engineering you want to do.

The chem units are designed that you can come knowing the basics of atoms and not much more (but you'll need to work hard throughout the year). Physics is just... Read the reviews to find out how much people "liked" physics (particularly 1080).

I can tell you from experience that PHS1080 sees a lot of comm/eng kids, so you're definitely not the only one in that situation.

I'd also suggest doing MTH1020 and MTH1030 (but some people might suggest otherwise), just because they can work as engineering units and will help you catch up on maths you missed. In the off-chance you don't get into engineering, you can also use MTH1030 for some commerce units.

Your other 4 units should be commerce units of your choosing - pick fun/easy ones to help boost your WAM so you are more likely to get your transfer. Also, if you think it'll be easier to get higher grades without the maths, don't do the maths - a high WAM is what you want out of your first year if you're looking to transfer.
