Anyone have any ideas about the different conflicts in the novel and how'd you incorporate them into an essay?
Just finished my sac on this!
Basically what I did with the book was I picked out key characters which i liked and i felt comfortable talking about.
First one is Safar Hussein, the living martyr, he was taken to a firing squad but survived and then came back to testify against Saddam Hussein, but was assainated before he got to trial. I think this character portrays how an individual can stand up for their beliefs even when there are potential consequences and risks if they believe passinately, a conflict arising doesnt change their priorities.
Second was Ahmed, the man who Megan Stack endangered the life of, just because she wanted a good story. I think he shows how even though Stack sometimes makes bad choices when faced with conflict. (There will be consequences chapter.)
Third was the 22-year old soldier who knew nothing but how to shoot a gun or something, shows the vicitims of confocit and the corruption of society, and how they have accepted the inevitability if cinflcit and dont seek anything more.
Theres a couple of others, like Zaman (warlord, shows possibly how conflict corrutped him, but in his perspective, it made him more powerful-growth) and Raheem, (even though Americans killed his son, he still wanted to go live in america, didnt hold a grudge)
I incorporated the example explicitly, cause i wrote an expository essay which makes it easier to use examples from the text.
Hope i helped, and sorry about any typos.
