How to study for English Language SAC??

Hi all :)

I have an upcoming short answer SAC on Informal language! Was just wondering if anyone could suggest ways to study for it/things to do before it.

Thanks in advance, any advice is appreciated!

Hello!

I haven't even started preparation for my first SAC yet as mine is early next term, but in general stay on top of your metalanguage! Also, really familiarise yourself with just how your teacher marks (get a rubric if possible!) and do lots of practice SACs used by your school in previous years then get those marked, so that you know where you're meant to elaborate further and where it's okay to keep things concise without jeopardising any marks.

Hi there!

I would definitely keep up with your metalanguage. Create a list of INFORMAL LANGUAGE features and make sure you know how to identify it within the text as well as explain HOW it relates to the social purpose/context of the piece.

I would also look at the marking too before answering each question as marks indicate how much you should write... you don't want to write too much or too little for that matter. Practice being clear and coherent in your responses too.

I would also practice analysing informal linguistic features in both the spoken and written modes. Make sure you also know which feature comes under which subsystem.

Also remember to highlight the keywords in each question given to you as you'd be surprised how many students may misinterpret or misread a part of the question!

I hope this helps!
