Pharmacology is a fairly straightforward subject. Look at the reviews.

Or BCMB20003 if you like biochem. When I took it much of the content was a repeat of 20002.
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

I heard really good things about BCMB20003. I kind of wish I took that subject.

Principles of Genetics.

This subject is quite easy to get a H1 in if you do the work.

What type of things ?
I plan on doing this subject next year (thus the curiosity).

Like in BCMB20002 (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology):
-You can only get assessed on lecture content. This is in stark contrast to physiology where pre-readings can be assessed. Also compared to anatomy where you can get assesed on the ADSLs, I found when I did BCMB20002, I could relax after understanding and committing the lecture slides to memory. Even though I felt I understood the anatomy lecture slides, I was never really confident since I didn't have as much time to go trhough the ADSL worksheets in detail etc.
-Organised well and assessments from what I've heard are very fair.
-BCMB20002/3 isn't really about application. These are subjects which assess how much information you can commit to memory so if you're not the type to memorise slab loads of stuff then you might want to consider another subject instead.

To add to this:

  • A lot of the content is repeated from BCMB20002 (or just expanded upon in more detail.)
  • Assessment is very fair. As you said, they only asses on lecture materials, so if you know the lectures, getting 100% on the exam is perfectly plausible.
  • There's a free 20% in online CALs (although I believe this has bene reduced a bit and a second MST has been added.)
  • There's a lot of memory work, but if you got a H1 in BCMB20002, a H1 in BCMB20003 should be a breeze.
  • The year before I did it, 50% got a H1, and 35% got 90 or above.

I didn't enjoy Principles of Genetics. ):

I would recommend BTCH20002: Biotechnology. I might write a review for it or my friend will. :)
Graduated in 2011.

Bachelor of Science at Melbourne. Biological Science subjects.

Have experienced and/or heard good things about these subjects:
Research-based physiology (if you're going to do human phys), comparative animal physiology, comparative nutrition & digestion (a previous atarnotes member got close to 100 for this subject)
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.
