Sounds like a good plan. I am also trying out next year but next year is going to be such a busy year because I am in the ACE program at my school and I have to do year 10 exams and my parents are forcing me to do my schools musical. So I will probably study over the holidays.

If you follow that through I can pretty much guarantee you a place at JMSS :P. I did a lot of preperation for the test, but I definitely feel that some of it was unnesesary. So work hard but don't burn yourself out ;). As long as you are at Year 9 maths level and have a decent understanding of scientific concepts, and can write an essay well then you will do fine.

I'm not actually going to JMSS next year though so advice from someone at the school would probably be more relevant :).

For around two months, mainly during the term breaks and weekends :).

The first essay was to 'Explain the difference between an atom and a cell to a grade 5 student'.

For the second one you could choose between 'What is the relationship between the respiratory and circulatory systems' and an experiment to do with water which I can't remember because I didn't choose it.

oh Hannibal did 8 hours of studying or so per day :P

Just another piece of advice - you don't really have to study for the test if you well genuinely have a passion and all. I didn't study for the test, and I didn't even know the exam format and all until during my drive to the exam. But I can say it was genuinely just a passion for learning that got me in.

As long as you genuinely have a passion for maths and science, you will get in. And your passion will show in the interview. I can guarantee it. :P LOL

You have to remember that the JMSS exam is designed to find out your thought process so if you really have a passion for science you will get in.  ;D

The other essay was if salt water would make water boil quicker. You had to write an experiment without the conclusion.
