Desperate for Practice Exams!

I struggling to find practice exams for English Language...

There are only like 4 exams for the current study design on the VCAA website, and I've downloaded the free Engage ones. Where else can I get them?
My teacher has been away for the past week which isn't exactly helping either...

Anyone wanna share?
Thanks,

Hi flares,

I understand your frustration - I went through a similar thing with lack of resources and the like. I'm afraid I can't help you directly, because I don't have any exams on me. But here is some more general advice if you're really struggling to find exams:

Make your own.

That is, find a text - any old text - and analyse it as you would in an exam. There is absolutely no shortage of texts to choose from. If you're struggling with this, let me know. Work with friends or by yourself, in consultation with the VCAA exams that you have alluded to, to construct your own essay prompts and short-answer questions. I actually found this quite useful (thinking as an assessor would) to make myself more familiar with the types of questions that would likely be given.

Best of luck. I know that this isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing if you can't find any exams!

Great idea Joseph41.

Do remember that you can use any exam from the previous Study Designs - they are all still useful.  The previous ones had two short answer sections and an essay - all still components of the current exam.  You could use one of the texts for an AC, and complete the short answer questions if you wanted (although you would need to check mark allocation of the short answer section if you are doing it to time).  2009 and earlier may have the odd question about Grice's Maxims and the Principal of Appropriateness - but apart from that, they are all still fine too, there's really only been small changes to the content covered.

That is a good idea! So, basically thinking like an assessor, writing my own SA Qs, and answering them myself on a selected text to analyse. I'm just not too sure how i'm going to mark them. I usually get a teacher to mark my analysis because they are able to allocate marks. If that makes sense...

Thanks

Sure does! Would your teacher(s) be willing to make your work at this stage?

Mark our work?
I guess, but my teacher takes a while to mark stuff.

Make us work?
Probably
