Hey everyone,

I was just wondering, how did everyone here know how to study what they studied before they studied it?

Thanks,

You will find that the first degree that you enter into at university isn't the one you necessarily come out with. ALOT of people change their mind - e.g. loss of interest part-way through. For me, I was always fascinated by computers and how we can create interesting and helpful tools with code. My path into university was a no brainer, and I've never been more confident I made the right choice.

I think the important thing is an interest in your area. It will be a long 3-4+ years in the same degree if you don't have an interest in the content. That's why I suggest the first semester at university is ultimately a taste-tester, to get a grasp of the content that you will further develop in your degree. If you find that it isn't your thing, you can always internally transfer to a different major/degree/whatever (usually means that you'll have to start again - in most cases).

A combination of work experience, realising I wasn't actually that good at maths, and getting a half-decent UMAT score. That's all there was to it.
