I just received my Statement of Marks for Physics. The A+ cutoff was 273/300 - which is 136.5/150 on the exam

if you didn't get the study score you expected - get it checked. Physics is probably the worst marked exam - this is even admitted by many past examiners.

I emailed it through 2 days ago along with an application for inspection. It came surprisingly quickly, but I haven't heard anything about the inspection.

I think im in the same situation, although I don't do physics i found my results to be quite shocking and unexpected (7-10 points under my prediction), I felt I did well on the exam yet people who didn't finish their essay's on time still got a higher exam grade. Ended up with GA1 A+, GA2 A, GA3 C+ resulting in a SS of 33 :-\.

I was ranked 2 or 3 in my cohort and my SAC marks were slightly scaled up, yet I got 33ss and C+ on the exam, that would mean I lost more than 36 marks (which is 54/90 or below) on the exam. Unexpectedly the ranked 4 in the cohort achieved a 43ss, I think I might apply for the statement of marks and an inspection since I honestly believed I did well (A/A+) and definitely have my skepticism on my exam mark...

Well that explains it then, a+ cutoff is usually quite a bit lower.

Do you just fill out the form and return it to your school office for the principal to sign? and would the school send it to VCAA or you have to collect the form and sent it yourself? Also if your sending it by email do you just scan the form and leave it as an attachment?

Depends whether you want to have it inspected at your school (then yes, principal needs to sign), or at the VCAA (principal does not need to sign). I scanned and emailed it myself as an attachment.

Thanks for the reply, I had no idea that you can have it inspected at VCAA. If you had it inspected at VCAA would your teacher be present there (my teacher is the only one qualified for the subject I think?) or someone else? Would you recommend applying for the statement of marks and reading it before applying for an inspection? Thanks  :)

are all schools obliged to consent to inspections?

i know mine doesnt :/ i asked my co-ordinator and she said 'the results are the results' and we can't take up our study scores with the VCAA  :o

Yes the teacher would have to be present for the inspection if you want an reassessment application. I applied for both and I was contacted for the inspection within 3 business days, but you definitely could get them done separately (at worst it might take an extra few days).

Thanks, I think I'm going to get them done separately but how would I apply for an Inspection after I had a look at my statement of marks since my form would be filled out already, would I need to ask VCAA to send me another application in the mail?

OK so my SoM turned up for physics - a B+ was 224-251/300 (I got 231)

Scaling is what saved me (I was expecting a 30 ss but ended with a 34)

Unit 3 - 54 scaled to 56/70
Unit 4 - 80 scaled to 88/100
