Say if you narrowly missed out on the clearly in of 97.6 and got 96.8 but have the maximum amount of subject bonuses that takes your atar to 99, what are your chances of making the course?
Do they accommodate for the subject bonuses in the first round or in later rounds?

And if you missed out can you negotiate offers or is that only for people who didn't list the course at all??

Thanks!

You probably have a pretty good chance.

I can't confirm for La Trobe, but usually subject bonuses kick in for all rounds. Also, don't forget that the clearly-in will probably change for next year's intake, it may go down.

Wow, I didn't know the clearly in was so high... (I applied/got an offer for this course last year too).  The clearly-in changes each year so it may go up or down - the year before it was definitely under the score you achieved, like low 96es; it may be this year, too.

Even if it stays the same, if you have extra bonuses and/or SEAS, you're most likely to get in first round.  I'd be surprised if you didn't.

But even if you didn't, you'd probably get it second round if you rejected your first round offer, since they normally take lower ATARs there.

I'm pretty sure that with that ATAR, and bonuses, you couldn't miss a place in physio.

Thanks heaps guys, really appreciate it :)

Last year 60% of offers were below the clearly in but my assumption is that batch largely consisted of aspire kids who just needed 90 for the course

Also the clearly in will probably rise to 98.5 or something this year, according to VTAC 2000 people apply and only around 72 get offers

Wow, really? :o

I'd still rely on your bonus points and, if that doesn't work first round, second round to get you through!  It's not like you're at all far from the requirements, and if they let Aspires in that low, why not you?  All the best :D

hahah thanks, just really don't wanna get my hopes up just yet

With second round, will there always be offers from each course or is it only in the case where some first round offers get rejected? And did the clearly in go down after the first round every time?

What makes you say it will go up? Because nobody can know for sure what will happen.

I don't think anyone knows the deets with second round offers. It could be they do it to fill the gaps, maybe some always do, maybe some never do. However, the clearly-in doesn't change. They just work down the ATAR list until they fill their quota for second round offers.

The clearly-in simply tells you what you needed to be accepted in the first round offer of that year.
