The net reaction in which aluminium metal is produced from alumina is:

2Al2O3(l)    + 3C (s)    ---------> 4Al (l)   + 3CO2(g)

What volume of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide would be produced at 1300C and 1.0 atm for each tonne of aluminium?

One tonne = 1000kg = 1000 x 10^3 g
Find n(Al) and use the molar ratio to find n(CO2). Then, using the universal gas equation, PV = NRT, you can work out V(CO2), making sure T is in Kelvins and P is in kPA.

First find the number of moles of aluminum oxide, then use the chemical reaction's stoichiometric ratio to find the number of moles of carbon dioxide produced.

From here use ideal gas equation to find the volume of carbon dioxide produced.
