Hey guys,
So stress levels right now are pretty high because I have a Text Response SAC for Burial Rites next week on Thursday AND I HAVEN'T WRITTEN A SINGLE PRACTICE ESSAY YET IS IT TOO LATE
The thing is, I look at a prompt and just ? ?? ?? ? I don't know what I should talk about ? ?? I just have no idea how to even plan an essay for prompts and I don't know why?
I've written like two half essays in class that we had to hand in but obviously they weren't complete and I haven't gotten either of them back yet
I honestly feel that I have sufficient knowledge of the text it's just translating that onto paper that I'm really struggling with, I've been going through prompts and trying to plan them and then it's like nope I don't know how to come up with a contention for that one, what the hell am I meant to write about, nope moving on to another prompt and then it keeps happening
Please help

I know I need to write more practice essays so that I'm well prepared BUT I CANT EVEN WRITE AN ESSAY SO WHAT DO I DO
Thanks all!
It's not even remotely "too late!"
Some advice here that seems relevant to where you're at right now.Basically 'practice' essays may not be the best practice if you're hitting instant writer's block and don't know what to say or how to say it. It sounds like it's mostly the latter for you, but I'm not sure whether that's the case if you're going through prompt after prompt to no avail.
My advice would be to pinpoint why you're finding a prompt so difficult. What is it that makes you go 'nope; can't handle that one?' It is possible that you're just dealing with an unnaturally difficult bunch of prompts, but what's more likely is that there's some kind of underlying concern that needs to be addressed before you feel confident enough to write.
Perhaps see how you go just brainstorming or listing a bunch of thoughts for a fairly easy* prompt like:
- Agnes' will to survive is her strongest attribute. Do you agree?or
- Burial Rites is about death, but it is also about life. Discuss.*difficulty is super subjective in English, but I'd say these are pretty standard.
(Prompts taken from
here just in case you don't know about that thread)
So have a go at those ones and get back to me with your attempt or any particular problems you ran into while trying to write stuff. That way you can pinpoint your weaknesses more efficiently and make it easier to write full essays later
