I'm in year 10 doing 1/2 biology. However next year I'll also be doing 3/4busman. I wanted to do 2 3/4 subjects next year (biology and Busman) but I don't like biology all that much. Ian also aware that the study design for bio is changing next year. I don't hate biology but i don't love it either. Kinda neutral I guess. I'm not dumb at it either (in comparison to my cohort) definitely in the top quarter at best. Should I still do it for the sake of 2 3/4s in year 11?
If I don't do it I'll be doing 1/2 legal instead..

Thanks

If you don't enjoy it then there is no point in doing it. If you don't enjoy the subject then you are less likely to put effort into studying but for it, and may end up not doing too well in the subject anyway.

Doing two 3/4 subjects in year 11 can be a big load..especially if your 1/2 subjects require a lot of time (eg methods or chemistry). The study design is changing for next year..they are somehow packing more content (experimental area of study) when the curriculum is already jam packed! That being said, everyone will be in the same boat so it won't really affect how well you do.

Doing VCE Biology a year early can be disadvantageous as I agree with what my teacher says: "VCE Biology is a language based exam". Possibly waiting another year gives you a year to mature.

VCE Bio is a lot to learn and it's a bit harder when you're not really interested in it. Have a talk to your teacher about it and see if the topics in 3/4 interest you ( Biochemistry, Nervous system, Immune system, population genetics, evolution, biology and society). All the best!

Hey! I'm in year 11 right now doing 3/4 Biology and 3/4 Indonesian second lang with 5 other subjects (7 subjects this year). My advice is, if you don't LOVE the subject I suggest you to NOT do it. Not only you will hate studying for it, but your marks will get down as well cause of the lack of interest.

Doing 2 year 12 subjects in year 11 is TOUGH, a really good time management is required. (regretting it right now)

VCE Bio is a lot to learn and it's a bit harder when you're not really interested in it.

As skybluemaniac says, biology involves a lot of terms to remember and is really hard to understand if you're not interested in the subject. Do you need biology as one of your prereq in your uni course preference? if not, its better to not do it... :-\
But anyway, if you're still interested doing bio next year, feel free to message me and I could possibly send you some of my notes! :)
I wish you the best of luck for your VCE years!  :)
