Tell us about it! ;D

For me, it was probably my U16 cricket grand final.

For context, I'd been playing with the same group since we were like nine or something. We'd never won the premiership, but we probably should have. We had a really good team but due to rotation policies and the like, never quite made it.

Anyway, U16s was, for some reason, the last age group in juniors at the time. I was also playing seniors, but it was never quite the same as junior cricket. So we all really wanted to win in what would be our last season together. Before the season started, I even did extra training and shit just to make sure we had the best possible chance of winning hahaha (I'm sure those extra runs were absolutely negligible in the broader scheme of things).

We continued with the rotation policy during the year, and just snuck into the final four. Like, just. So then we were playing against the number one team in the semi-final (to get into the grand final), who had absolutely smacked us during the year. We played juniors on Friday nights; all of that Friday, it pissed down with rain. It looked like it was going to be called off for sure, which would have seen us (as the lower ranked team) knocked out.

The rain ended up stopping just enough for us to start and finish the game, and absolutely poured down as soon as we finished. And it's lucky, because we just annihilated them. Going into finals, our coach decided that we'd had enough of the rotation policy, and we played our best team for once lol. It seemed to work. We batted first, and scored pretty well. I was personally pleased, because I'd been pretty fucked with a hip flexor injury during the year; I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to play finals. But I opened (as I always did), scored 48, and then got out to a soft dismissal (as I always did).

Their captain then gave me the biggest send off of all time, going on about how I'd thrown away my wicket etc. ::) I didn't say anything.

We then rolled them for 51, which was actually absurd. Their captain came in at number 3, and got out for a duck (caught by yours truly behind the stumps).

The following week, it was never in doubt, and we cruised to victory in the grand final. Best day of my life.

This whole thing just turned into a rant about  my junior cricket lol, but the point of the thread is: what's been the best day of your life, and why? ;D

Catching the captain for a duck when he'd previously laughed at you would feel good af even if it hadn't led to a premiership victory ;D

I racked my brain for a good fifteen minutes and simply nothing came to mind. I guess I get excited about ideas and people - altruism, random acts of kindness, love, friendship, learning new skills, philosophy, etc - more than about events exactly, so it's hard to pin down.

And when I get really over the moon happy, it's tipping into dangerous high territory and that's not positive anyway heh.

Hahahahahaha. There were about four who were very rarely rotated/"rested" because, y'know, contradictions of policy and all that.

Pretty fucked when I think about it.
