UoM has begun implementing an industry based program for their Info Systems degree - but it is a program in its infancy and very limited in the number of places. That was 2 years ago, and I haven't heard much else. Whether its grown or died in the arse, I don't know.

I haven't got much to add here (good post by Excal) other than RMIT has my thumbs up. Software Engineering here is a 4 year degree with the 3rd being an industry placement.

There really isn't much to choose between the unis (bar UoM) - you'll end up learning the same stuff wherever you go. Most of the unis (bar UoM, I think?) provide some sort of industry placement as well.

The main things to consider when choosing an IT degree are the industry component and, as trivial as it might sound, how convenient it is to travel to whichever uni you choose.

Just to add to what you said:

Consider other things too such as location, friends or perhaps even reputation if you want to go down that road. The stuff you learn at each uni will be generally the same. The only exception that I can see is the Swinburne BIT - where you actually do four years of study in three (i.e., you overload each semester by doing five subjects) where comparable courses at Monash and RMIT are three years I believe. Of course, if you value your sanity...
