Hard choice. Dobby was incredibly loyal to Hogwarts and cute. Fred was also. Ron lost his brother, and George lost his twin. So, maybe Fred... or Dobby... or Fred. Hmm...

Fred lives on in George and in his nephew (named after him)

Dobby doesn't have that. Dobby has no one

I pick Dobby.

Fred for two reasons. Though I love Dobby, in the world of Harry Potter, unfortunately not many people do, like he doesn't have many friends beyond Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna etc. Thus, though it was devastating to read/watch (and this is gonna sound super harsh) Dobby's death doesn't have much of an impact beyond those four (all of whom are also greatly impacted by Fred's death). In comparison, Fred had a huge family, and was very well liked, thus more people were negatively affected by his death and bringing him back would make life happier exponentially for many other people (further faciliated by the fact that he was a very fun, happy, funny guy!)

Furthermore, in regards to Dobby not having that many friends - there is a reason for this. He's a house elf, a group that is discriminated against within society, to the point of slavery. I may be wrong here, but there isn't much precedent in regards to free elves - does he get a job? how does he make a living? What are the workers rights for free house elves? Is he eligible for centerlink? Can he get a mortgage? Though in a perfect world, both Dobby and Fred could live long and happy lives, given their circumstances, it is far more likely that Dobby will have a pretty tough life in comparison to Fred.

So yeah, Imma pick Fred (though rip dobs)

I"m feeling kind of aggrieved by the murderous folk in Dobby's camp... Like...

Dobby died a good death - protecting Harry Potter, directly contributing in a major, major way to winning the war, and he died a free elf after an interesting life well lived by house elf standards.

Fred was 20. His life was ripped away from him, his friends, his family, and the wider wizarding community - and for basically nothing. He was duelling, and explosion came out of nowhere, and he died - basically the wizarding equivalent of stepping on an IED. He had his entire life ahead of him, and that was taken away.

Dobby's life was sacrificed. Fred's life was stolen.

Shame on you.

definitely depends if the war against lord voldy and his gang was over or if fighting was still going.

if there were still horcruxes around and fighting to be done then dobby is far FAR more useful ,and reviving him would be much better from a strategic and utilitarian perspective and would most likely save HEAPS of lives as part of a flow on effect. imagine if he was there teleporting harry and the gang to all the different fkn horcruxes??? wouldve been over in 5 minutes. but i think if the chance to revive only came about after peace had come then you gotta pick fred just cos (like brenden said) dobby died a free elf protecting harry and lived a long life that was an absolutely RIPPER of a life for a house elf considering he had been freed at this point and had lived for centuries(?). fred on the other hand (again like brenden said) was a young bloke with a family who got caught in the crossfire.

Nah I don't think I would actually. I love them both dearly and as a 10 year old I cried my eyes out when they died. But JK Rowling's message was clearly anti-war so she had to show the devastation and loss of war. If HP ended without causality it would be a sham, even the epilogue was a bit too self-indulgent. I would have preferred that it ended right after the war, or if there had to be an epilogue, it should have delved into the impact that the war still had on the wizarding community and even the muggles. I rejoiced in the happy ending but also felt like the anti-war message was weaker because of it.
