Can't be stuffed going to English anymore

I used to love English when we had our old teacher, but now it's boring. I know it might be stupid but at this point of time in the year I just can't be stuffed sitting through hours of English.  :-\

So what I'm asking is does anyone have any tactics to get me through this? :'(

Ask me anything about Studio, Media and Further Maths and I will try my best to help :)

Hi! Welcome to the forum :D

Sorry to hear that you're not really enjoying English right now :(
I had similar problems to you when I was in VCE, and even in the earlier years of high school at times. I really enjoyed some aspects of class, but found a lot of it disengaging, and at the start of year 12, I absolutely loathed going to English.

But, by the end of the year (or even earlier, to be honest), it was probably my favourite class to go to.

You know what changed my experience of English? I spoke to my teacher.
Your teachers aren't psychic - they might have a hunch that you're not engaging with English, but they won't know for sure until you tell them!
Let your teacher know that you're not enjoying class, and the reasons why you aren't. They should be able to come up with some good tactics to change this for you, and should be able to change around some aspects of the class for you to make your experience better :)

I also found that I didn't have the best mindset either. I was quick to shoot things down and say I wouldn't like to do it that way - without even giving it a go. There's a really great quote that goes something along the lines of: "if you can't change it, change the way you think about it" :) So maybe also try to see if you can change your mindset, make it more open, etc.

I think it's also important to remember that perseverance and self-discipline are really key. You're so close to the end of the year, don't give up now! I'm sure you'll be able to get through this :)

All the best!

kiki.

I think K888 has summed it up nicely so I won't add anything.

I just want to say I understand and I've been through it too. Please don't give up! You've got only a bit more than a month left until the English exams.

Short-term pain for long-term gain.

I know you may shudder at the thought of regurgitating another text response or analysing another inane language analysis piece on some contrived issue, but think about how close you are - less than two months and you'll have written your last English exam ever! To motivate yourself, think about the end goal - what do you want to study at uni? If you really want it that much, surely you're not going to let 7 weeks of slogging through english papers get in your way?

Everyone experiences slumps in motivation to study and perform - you're not alone. It's about how you push through it and get to the finish line. Future you will thank yourself now for the hard yards you put in now.
