Hi all!
for the study design dot point -role of Vic health: potiental outcomes of a vichealth funded project and how it reflects the social model of health,
Do we have to know a specific program such as the quit campaign?
Also, do we have to know the definitions for the determinants of health?
Thankyou!

I don't think we need to know a specific vichealth funded project, in the practice exams i've come across they seem to give us the program and describe it then ask us how it reflects the social model of health. I also don't think we need to know the definitions of determinants of health because on the study design it doesn't say "definitions of" like it does for physical health/social health etc. It says "the role of determinants" so i don't think they'd ask us to define it

I don't know if im certain or not but the VCAA GLOSSARY for study design 2014-2017 contains all the determinants definitions not sure if we need to know them though, can someone please confirm?

And also one of the practice exams i've come across has asked me for a VicHealth program. It states
Identify one program supported by VicHealth that aims to address one of these priorities and briefly explain it.

Could someone also give a sample response for that question above. (3marks)

THANKS

It is definitely possible that they could ask us to define or explain what determinants are (or the specific types). As MrUnknown said, they are in the glossary. It is also possible that they could ask us to identify a VicHealth funded project. It's a pretty crappy thing to do but could use it this year as a splitter question apparently (according to HTN lectures and my teacher) because its the last year of the study design. So, its good to be familiar with 1 or 2 projects.
Some examples are:
- Walk to School Program (addresses 'encourage regular physical activity')
- Healthy Living Apps (VicHealth has a crap tonne of apps that are designed to promote all of the priorities. I can't remember them all rn soz but one of them is 'What's Up?' which offers methods to cope with depression, anxiety and provides a positive habit tracker. Hence, improving mental wellbeing).

Hope that helps!

Yep, agree with rpapa:

- Should know determinant definitions (they're in the study design glossary).  They're almost the only definitions that haven't been asked in previous exams, so quite likely to come up imo.

- I definitely recommend knowing the outline of a VicHealth project - any will do, and you can learn the details just like you would for an NHPA program. :)
