Hi,
can someone pls clarify/explain what the following study point in the research methods section of the study design means:
-explain how models are used to organise and understand observed phenomena and concepts related to psychology, identifying limitations of the models
would we have to write notes about this as i cant find any info about this anywhere in my textbook/online. really confused

Mod edit: Edited unnecessary full caps from title and changed to make it more relevant.

This might be easiest using an example.
Some of the models you will encounter early in year 12 are the transactional model of stress and coping  and the General Adaptation Syndrome . Both of these models describe how we react to stress and are useful in explaining how we react to it but they both also have limitations.
The GAS explains our biological response but it doesn't account for the influence of our psychology - a limitation of this model.
The transactional model of stress and coping explains our psychological response but doesn't account for our biology - a limitation of this model.
Maybe one day we will understand both and how they connect well enough to have a theory (requires tons of evidence) which unifies the two; but for now at least we have the two models to help us understand the biology and psychology of stress

Yes, you'll need notes on the advantages and limitations of the models in the study design.

For example, a strength of the GAS model is that it describes the immediate and long term effects of stress while a weakness of it is that it used rats in the development of the model. I can't remember if there was a question about this on last year's exam, but my school's sacs definitely had a question or two on them. :)
