Hey, do you count year 10 students as seniors? Should they get the luxuries year 11s and 12s get?
Thanks

I think that depends on the school more than anything. At mine they were considered as such because our senior campus included the year 10s. Not sure what luxuries the year 11s/12s are supposed to get though.

At my school, once the Year 12s graduate and leave, the Year 10s were considered 'seniors'. If you had a good attendance record and good grades, they'll let you wear your senior uniform during Term 4. But besides from that- then no. This really depends on your school. Year 10s are technically the 'seniors' of the juniors, but don't have the same 'senior' title as the Year 11s and 12s.
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?

Depends on structure. Many schools opt to have either Later/Senior Years as 10-12, however some split into three schools (e.g. Junior, Middle, Senior 7-8 9-10 11-12). I personally feel that 10-12 is a better representation.

Anyway... in my opinion if you are doing a VCE subject (e.g. as a year 10 doing a Unit 1+2), you should be afforded the same privileges as a Year 11 doing it as well.

Just my thoughts.

I distinctly remember that when I was in year 10 we were caught in a "You are not seniors so you do not have this privilege" and "You are basically seniors pick up your act" scenario... ;)

But much like Bea's experience, when Year 12s graduated a few weeks before the school year ended we were official seniors and actually had a ceremony to bring us into that stage.

I would agree with Aaron. I went to a 7-10 school and now I go to a 11-12 school. When I was in Year 10, we don't have the same privileges as a Year 12  (e.g. study privileges, Year 12 jackets) and we didn't get called seniors but we had Year 10 formal and the teachers would tell us off because "we're the oldest and the leaders of the school." Plus, my 11-12 school is called 'Senior College' so I guess Years 11 and 12 are the 'official' seniors.

I went to a K-12 school so prep-grade 6 was Junior School, years 7-9 was Middle School and 10-12 was Senior School, so for us you were a senior when you were in year 10. You had access to the senior common room (though didn't often go in it because the year 11s were scary haha) and were allowed to use phones during break times (a true senior school privilege haha)

Omg you reminded me of the 'shared area' that was exclusive to Year 10s! It was the only place in our school with a patch of (fake) grass and actual trees and only the Year 10s were allowed to sit here. My junior school used to be single-sex so I guess you could say the 'privilege' was being able to interact with the opposite sex on a piece of grass lol. But by Year 10, the school amalgamated into one co-ed school so I guess it's no longer considered a privilege, yet it's still called the 'shared area' for some reason lmao.

At my school, year 10 was kinda a 'stepping into senior school year' which was considered important but didn't have any of the privileges. In years 11/12, we had a different uniform (white shirt/socks), senior kitchen (hot water/microwaves/sink), study area in the library, senior 'area' outside the library with tables, and year 12 jackets. On our buses, seniors (mainly years 11/12) were allowed to sit on the back seat.

At my school we had a junior (7-8), middle (9-10), & senior  (11-12) subschool system. There were no privileges associated with bring senior,  but the year 12s get jackets and a study room.
[It was slightly frustrating in year 11 when my people from my bio class wanted to study together and I couldn't participate, but that was it]
